As the old saying goes, it takes a village to raise a child. But our village isn’t the same as it used to be. Modern families must create their own village by surrounding themselves with like-minded individuals and groups who will support them in meeting their family goals.
At Family Doulas of Ottawa, we want to be part of your village. Our doulas are experts in not just baby care, infant feeding, and postpartum recovery, but also in whole-family adjustment. We are there to support you however you need to be supported.
For some families, support will include education and encouragement while new parents get to know their baby and gain confidence as parents. For other families, doula care will involve direct baby care so that the parents can rest, recover, take care of their own health, or return to work.

Welcoming a new baby, whether they are your first or your fifth, can seem overwhelming. Especially when everyone offers their opinions, whether you want them or not! It can be scary to invite a new person into your space and be vulnerable with them. We know that every family will have their own unique challenges. To help, all of our doulas receive training in bottle-feeding, breast and chest feeding, supplementary nursing systems, and more.
